Panama City Beach is 27 miles of shoreline with a resort strip running most of its length, and it is a town where the distance between where you are staying and where you want to be is almost always further than it looks on a map. That is the case for renting a bike, and specifically for renting one with a motor.
This list covers shops within about 20 miles of Panama City, which takes in Panama City Beach, the downtown area and the eastern end toward Mexico Beach. Ranking comes from Google star rating weighted against review volume, and every shop here is currently operating.

Panama City vs Panama City Beach
Visitors mix these up constantly, and it matters when you are booking.
Panama City Beach is the resort strip: Front Beach Road, the condo towers, Pier Park, and most of the rental shops. If your accommodation has a beach view, this is where you are.
Panama City is the older mainland city across the bay, with a downtown, a marina and far fewer rental options aimed at visitors. It is about 20 minutes from the beach strip.
If you are staying on the beach, filter the list above for Panama City Beach addresses. If you are downtown, the beach shops will usually still deliver.
Where to ride
Front Beach Road and the Gayle's Trails network. Panama City Beach has been steadily building out separated paths, and the Gayle's Trails system gives you long stretches away from traffic on Front Beach Road. It is the reason riding here got a lot better in recent years.
Conservation Park. Nearly 3,000 acres north of the beach with a network of boardwalks and unpaved trails. Check what surfaces your rental is rated for before you commit.
St. Andrews State Park. East end, with paved roads inside the park and beach access at both ends. A good half-day target.
Pier Park and back. The practical ride: it is where the food is, and the parking is dire.
East toward Mexico Beach. Quieter, longer, more exposed. A proper e-bike ride rather than a cruise.
What to rent here
Class 2 cruisers for the beach strip. The riding is flat and the throttle helps at the frequent junctions on Front Beach Road.
Fat tyres if you plan to ride any of the sand or the unpaved sections at Conservation Park.
Family setups. Panama City Beach is a family destination, and the shops know it. Child seats, trailers and cargo bikes are all widely available, but they are the first things to sell out in summer - book them, do not assume.
Ask about delivery. With condo towers spread along 27 miles of beach road, delivery is often the difference between riding daily and riding once.
Season and timing
The Panhandle runs opposite to most of Florida: summer is peak here, not winter. June through early August is the busiest and most expensive window, and spring break is its own separate scramble. Rates soften considerably from late September.
Heat is the constraint from May to September. Ride before 10am or after 5pm, take more water than you think, and remember there is almost no shade on the beach road.
Afternoon thunderstorms in summer are brief and heavy. Most shops are relaxed about riders sheltering; ask about the weather policy if you are booking a full day.
Rules and safety
Florida treats an e-bike as a bicycle: no licence, registration or insurance required for a bike with a 750 W or smaller motor and working pedals. Helmets are required under 16. Minimum riding ages are set by rental shops and, in some places, by local rules, so ask before you book.
Front Beach Road deserves specific respect. It carries heavy traffic, a lot of it unfamiliar with the area, and the separated path network is the reason to be here rather than the road itself. Use the paths, cross at marked crossings, and be visible after dark - lights are legally required and practically essential.
Riding on the beach is not permitted in most of the area. Ask your shop where their bikes are allowed locally; they answer this question daily.
The short version
Panama City Beach rewards a bike more than most Florida beach towns, simply because everything is spread out along one long road and the parking at the good bits is hopeless. Pick a well-rated shop near your end of the strip, take the delivery if you are in a condo, use the separated paths rather than Front Beach Road, and ride early in summer.
Call before you drive over - Panhandle hours shift with the season, and the shops update their doors before they update Google.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the best place to rent an e-bike in Panama City Beach?
The shops at the top of the list above have the strongest combination of Google rating and review volume within 20 miles. In a town spread across 27 miles of beach, the practical answer is also whichever well-rated shop is closest to your condo, or one that delivers to it.
How much does an e-bike rental cost in Panama City Beach?
Roughly $30 to $55 for two hours, $60 to $95 for 24 hours, and $200 to $375 for a week, plus a card hold of $100 to $300 per bike. Summer is peak season here, so expect the upper end of those ranges from June to early August.
Is Panama City Beach good for riding with kids?
Yes, provided you use the separated paths rather than Front Beach Road itself. The Gayle's Trails network gives you long traffic-free stretches. Book child seats, trailers or a cargo bike ahead in summer, since they sell out first.
Can I ride an e-bike on the beach in Panama City Beach?
Generally no. Beach riding is prohibited in most of the area, and any exception is narrowly defined. Stick to the path network and the park roads, and confirm the current rules with your rental shop.
Do Panama City Beach shops deliver e-bikes to condos?
Many do, and given how spread out the accommodation is, it is worth asking every shop you call. Delivery is often free within a few miles and charged beyond it. See our delivery cost guide.
When is the cheapest time to rent an e-bike in Panama City Beach?
Late September through February, outside spring break. The Panhandle peaks in summer, opposite to most of Florida, so autumn is both cheaper and quieter here.
